Wicklow Apartheid Free Zone

We’ve launched the Wicklow Apartheid Free Zone! This group was formed following a meeting in December 2025. The launch, which was held at the Bridge Tavern, included speakers Senator Francis Black, John Brady TD, Palestinian Ambassador Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid, humanitarian doctor Mohammed Abu Mughessib and local BDS activist Bronagh ni Bhian.

The initiative aims to encourage local businesses, organisations, and community members to explore ethical alternatives and solidarity actions in support of Palestinian human rights. The initiative offers businesses the opportunity to engage in a supportive, educational process, providing guidance on ethical sourcing, awareness-raising, and solidarity actions. Organisers stress that the focus is on conversation and community engagement, and that businesses are supported at every stage to ensure the process is constructive and manageable.

We’re calling on local businesses and community groups to join us! This initiative is designed to not negatively impact businesses in any way, but allow them to facilitate your right to purchase ethically sourced goods, not manufactured/produced on stolen lands under oppression. Think of pharmacies, coffee shops, fruit and veg, barbers, hair salons, bars, restaurants, motor factors, garages. Use the power of your Euro.

We’re also calling on local councillors and TD’s to support the initiative and to take action on the Occupied Territories Bill, which would prohibit the importation of goods from illegal settlements in Palestine.
