My Priorities for the Community
-
Everyone Deserves A Home
Housing is a basic right, and should be treated as such. Yet, getting on the property ladder and owning a decent home is a challenge that many in our community are continuously faced with. As your Social Democrats councillor and a member of the Housing Strategic Policy Committee, I’m committed to finding practical solutions for those in our community who are struggling to secure a home, while also working toward a long-term vision of accessible, secure housing for all. That means increasing the supply of affordable homes, supporting well-planned mixed-tenure developments, and ensuring housing policy reflects the needs of young families, older residents, and renters alike.
Tackling homelessness is also a vital part of this work. It requires a comprehensive, compassionate, and long-term approach that expands access to social and affordable housing, improves mental health and addiction supports, and ensures people can exit homelessness permanently rather than continue cycling through emergency systems. Pragmatically, it also means improving emergency accommodation for those who have no choice but to sleep on the streets. No one should be left without a safe place to stay in a country that has the means to do better.

Farmers: Keepers Of Our Biodiversity
Farmers are among our most important stewards of the land, playing a vital role in preserving biodiversity across Ireland. Traditional, low-intensity farming supports a rich variety of species and habitats, from semi-natural grasslands and species-rich meadows to wetlands and upland pastures. These landscapes provide essential nesting, feeding, and breeding grounds for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. Practices such as low-input grazing, maintaining hedgerows, and protecting wet areas help sustain fragile ecosystems that would otherwise disappear under intensive production models. As a councillor, I’m committed to supporting our farming communities by advocating for stronger policy support and helping farmers access and understand the agri-environment schemes that reward biodiversity-focused practices.

Consent: For All, Always
Consent education is essential to building a safer, more respectful society. As a Consent Ambassador with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, I am committed to ensuring that young people in our schools and communities receive clear, age-appropriate education on consent, boundaries, and respectful relationships. Every young woman should grow up knowing her rights and feeling safe, and every young man should have access to positive, healthy models of masculinity.

Building Belonging Through Sport
Sport isn’t just about competition: it’s about connection. As Vice Chair of Éire Óg Greystones GAA for ten years and a proud coach, I’ve seen firsthand how being part of a team builds friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Through my work with Planet Youth Wicklow and helping young people find positive outlets, I’m committed to breaking down barriers so that every young person has a chance to play, to grow, and to be part of the team.
I also believe that sport should be for everyone - no exceptions. I want to ensure that every young person has access to inclusive facilities, regardless of gender, background, or ability. That means investing in local sports clubs and infrastructure so girls and women can stay in the game, especially as they are the first to lose out when facilities are limited. It also means making sure young people with additional needs, like those on our brilliant All Stars team at Éire Óg, have the same opportunities to participate, thrive, and be recognised for their abilities.
Celebrating Our Heritage and Culture
Hurling isn’t just a sport, it’s a vital part of our identity and Irish culture. Going back over 3000 years, it is one of the oldest field games in the world and an integral part of our old stories. As a hurler myself, I consider hurling to be a celebration of our heritage, and a way to encourage our communities to take pride in our traditions. I’ll keep working to ensure every young hurler, from beginners to future stars, has the coaching, facilities, and support they need to thrive.

Human Rights Are Non-negotiable.
The ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people is one of the greatest moral failures of our time. The ongoing violation of human rights, the continued breaches of the ceasefire, the absence of sanctions against companies profiting from these crimes, and the emerging plans to turn Gaza into a luxury real estate venture for the world’s wealthiest and most complicit actors are deeply abhorrent.
Yet our Government fails to impose meaningful sanctions on those responsible. I will continue to advocate for the full passage of the Occupied Territories Bill with services included, and push for stronger economic sanctions against Israel. I also support designating Wicklow as an apartheid-free zone, encouraging local businesses to take a stand and use their economic power to oppose the ongoing violation of Palestinian rights. Finally, I organise local gatherings as part of Greystones for Palestine twice a week in front of the Dart station, in solidarity. We also hold fundraisers in support of Uisce for Gaza, T.E.A Collective and Gaza Go Bragh.

Men's Mental Health: Opening The Conversation
Good mental health starts with strong community connections. Whether it’s a sunrise swim, a walk with friends, or a chat after a match, these moments matter. Through volunteering with Darkness Into Light Greystones as Treasurer and Vice Chair, setting up a local walking group, and supporting peer-led initiatives, I’m passionate about creating spaces where men feel supported, connected, and never alone. Together, we can break down stigma and open up real conversations.
