  • My Role as Councillor

    As your Local Councillor, my role is to represent you. I can make representation etc etc. I’m also directly involved in developing the local area development plan, which outlines how the area will grow and change over a set period. It guides decisions on housing, transport, public spaces, commercial development, and environmental protection. It also sets priorities for preserving our natural and built heritage, managing land use, and ensuring sustainable, well-connected communities. This plan is one of the most important tools we have to shape the future of our towns and villages.

  • The Greystones Municipal District Council

    The elected council is the main group that makes the rules and decisions for the local area. The daily running of our local area is handled by full-time staff, led by the chief executive. It's the chief executive's job to give advice and support to the elected council to help them do their work.

    Our Chief executive is Emer O’Gorman.

    The Greystones Municipal District Council is also responsible for

    🌳the upkeep of parks and open spaces, including beaches; 🏘️ the maintenance of local social houses; 🚧 cleaning, maintaining and improving roads, footpaths and bridges; 🛐 and maintaining burial ground within the district.

    We also support the Town Team with the Saint Patrick Parade and the Christmas street lighting in Greystones each year as well as organising the annual People of the Year Awards.

  • What the Council is up to

    We meet the last Tuesday of the month (except in August) with council officials and sometimes representatives of local groups and members of the public.
