Meet Mark

Greystones has been home for over 20 years. I love it here - Main Street, the beach, the mountains, the people… that’s why I’ve wanted to do my best to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my two sons.

Growing up in a small, rural community in North Tipperary, I understood the value of having a strong and integrated community to me from a very young age, having neighbours that are able to help each other out and facilities that are people-centred.

  • When I lived in Charlesland, I founded the Charlesland Neighbourhood Watch, which started a social group to help new residents settle in and build local connections.

  • In 2025, I trained as a Consent Ambassador through WeConsent, a Dublin Rape Crisis initiative that aims to start meaningful conversations about consent, developing a culture that keeps our children safe.

  • Most recently, I’ve been involved in raising awareness for the Palestinian cause: rallying the community in raising their voices against genocide in the largest vigil Wicklow has seen, fundraising for various NGOs in Gaza and supporting the Apartheid-Free Zone initiative in Wicklow Town.

  • I support local group, Mo Chara’s incredible cause in their efforts to supply hot meals and other essentials to people living on the street in Dublin.

  • Over the years, I’ve also helped raise funds for other causes I care deeply about, including our local Greystones Community National School (GCNS) through Strictly Come Dancing, as well as supporting mental health and suicide prevention with Pieta House’s Darkness into Light event locally.

Being from Tipp also means that hurling is, and always has been, a big part of my life. Though I haven’t shed my blue and gold jersey, I’ve played county hurling here in Wicklow. I’m particularly proud of the contribution I made to growing Éire Óg into the thriving community hub it is today, establishing the camogie team and spending many years coaching teams across the club. Last year, the Junior A team I coach even went on to win the championship final!

In my professional life, I work as a director with SIS Pitches, where I continue to focus on building strong foundations and supporting teams to succeed.
